Shark Bay Fishing Club Inc.

The Shark Bay Annual Fishing Fiesta is the biggest community event held in the World Heritage Area of Shark Bay, Western Australia, with well over 1,000 people visiting the area and participating in the week long festivities. The event is hosted by the Shark Bay Fishing Club Inc, a not for profit organisation made up of community volunteers. 

Each day and night provides entertainment and social activities for all people (not just fishing fanatics) to participate in. Activities are organised by local community groups fundraising over the course of the week and often include quiz and bingo nights, market days, film evenings, art and craft workshops, food and fishing stalls, kids competitions, street parade, an auction, fantastic days of fishing in pristine waters and much more!

Since 2007, the Fishing Club has donated over the years $54,441 back into our local community, by means of donations to our local health building Silverchain, funds to the Royal Flying Doctors Service , VMR, local community groups, the Shire of Shark Bay for fish cleaning stations as well as the Shark Bay sub branch of the St John's Ambulance. We do not currently have any doctors living in our community, so doctors fly in and out of our town twice a week as health support for our area.

The Fishing Competition is the main attraction at the event and is open to all recreational fishers. Various categories to suit beach, boat or jetty anglers and we encourage families to take part in a fun filled outdoor activity. Daily fish weigh-ins are held and competitors must obey all rules set out by the Department of Fisheries.
